Welcome to the Writing with Purpose. It is my intention that this blog provide helpful information and ideas for readers that want to become better writers both professionally and personally, and maybe read a good story or two.
With a degree in English/secondary education, coupled with over 3 years of professional freelancing experience, I hope to provide tools and ideas for my readers to improve their writing skills, and maybe have some better employment opportunities in the future.
I promise to not make it sound like a classroom lecture. In fact, you might find a nugget of helpful information as I recount some of my mistakes in becoming a freelance writer, as well as successes, with a little humor mixed in, for some comic relief.
Among the many things I have learned as a teacher, I understand that the instructor learns something new every day. One of the greatest values of helping someone else is the many things I learn in the process.
Since becoming a full-time freelance writer that lesson is reinforced on a daily basis. As I write for my clients, I learn more than is ever put down on the documents they receive in return. Plus, as professional relationships have grown, I have discovered some wonderful friendships, and they help me out. Some even set me straight once in awhile.
As this blog grows, my hope is that we can learn from each other. I welcome topic ideas, comments and opinions, as long as they are presented with good manners in mind. I look forward to them. I hope they will provide ideas for subsequent posts that will be mutually beneficial.
